2 UPDF activists shot dead in Khagrachhari

Two activists of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) were allegedly shot to death in a gunfight between two groups of the party at Mohalchari uapzila in Khagrachhari district on Wednesday (January 24).

Another activist of the organization has remained missing in this connection.

The incident happened in Durchhari village under the upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Rabi Kumar Chakma, 65, and Shanta Chakma Bimol, 52. Both were activists of UPDF.

UPDF organizer Angya Marma confirmed their identities and said another activist Rohindra Chakma Tipon was missing after being injured in the incident.

Mohalchari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nasir Uddin said being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered two dead bodies.

The OC said the bodies will be sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for autopsies.
