4 get death for killing autorickshaw driver in Munshiganj

A court in Munshiganj has awarded death sentence to four people for killing autorickshaw driver Ashraful Islam at Louhajang upazila in the district in 29 September, 2020.
Munshiganj Additional District and Sessions-2 Judge Khaleda Yeasmin Urmi handed down the verdict on Wednesday (January 24).
The court also sentenced three other accused in the case to two years imprisonment each and acquitted two others as the allegation against them was not proven.
The death row convicts are Rubel Islam Nayon, Mohammad Rajel, Akram Molla, and Hasan Sheikh.
According to the case statement, the death row convicts hacked the victim Ashraful Islam and rob his auto-rickshaw from Goalimandra area under the upazila on September 29, 2023 while he was riding his vehicle. Ashraful was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
Later on September 30, the victim’s father filed a murder case with Louhajang Police Station accusing nine people.
Following the case, police arrested the accused and sent them to jail. Among them, three convicts gave confessional statement before the court.
After hearing 13 witnesses and examining evidences, the court delivered the verdict today.
