Temperature drops to 7.2°C in Panchagarh

Residents of Panchagarh are shivering in the cold with the mercury falling to 7.2 degrees Celsius in the district.

Shivering cold accompanied with dense fog and cold wave disrupted the normal life of people here.

The bone-chilling cold is forcing people to stay home. The daily wage earners are the worst sufferers as they could not go out for work.

Some people were seen warming themselves in the morning after setting fire on husks beside the road.

This morning (January 27), temperature was recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius in Panchagarh.

Russell Shah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tetulia Meteorological Observatory, said Panchagarh recorded temperature at 7.2 degrees Celsius at 9 am today.

Earlier on Friday (January 26), it was 5.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest this season, in the district. The minimum temperature in the district was ranging from 7 to 10 since last Monday.

The Met office said that a moderate to severe cold wave is moving over the district. Even after 10am, vehicles were seen moving on the highway with headlights on.
