Another man, who sustained injuries after a private car ploughed through a roadside fish market at Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha district on Friday evening, has passed away.
With this, the death toll from the accident rose to three.
The deceased was Azizur Rahman, 78, son of late Enayet Mia.
Earlier, two people were killed and four others injured as a private car ploughed through a roadside fish market in Dharmapur Bazaar area at Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha district around 7 pm on Friday (January 26).
The deceased Haren Chandra Das, 55, son of Naren Chandra Das, and Pratap Chandra Das, 30, son of Mahendra Chandra Das, both were fish traders of the market and residents of Dharmapur area.
According to witnesses, a speeding Gaibandha-bound private car from Nakaihaat area ploughed into the market and ran over several people after its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle, leaving six people critically injured.
Locals rushed them to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex where Haren and Pratap succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. Later, the physicians of the health complex referred four injured persons to Bagura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated. Azizur Rahman died while undergoing treatment there.
Gobindaganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shamsul Alam Shah said being informed, police rushed there and seized the private car from the spot.
