5 get life term in murder and drug cases in Joypurhat

A Joypurhat court has sentenced a total of five persons to life term imprisonment in murder and drug cases.

At the same time, the court also fined four people Tk 10,000 each in the murder case.

The convicts were Sohag, Raihan, Aminul Islam, and Harunur Rashid, residents of Ratanpur village under Panchbibi upazila in the district. Of them, Harunur Rashid was absent in the court when the verdict was announced. They have been convicted in the murder case filed in 2010.

On the other hand, the same court sentenced a person named Sujan Sardar to life imprisonment in a drug case.

He was fined Tk one lakh at the same time.

Joypurhat Additional Sessions Court-2 Judge Abbas Uddin announced these verdicts separately on Monday (January 29).
