2 killed as truck rams motorcycle in Moulvibazar

Two people were killed as a truck rammed their motorcycle at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district on Tuesday (January 30) afternoon.

The accident took place on the Kulaua-Juri regional highway in Begmanpur area under the upazila.

The deceased were identified as the motorcycle driver Abu Sufiyan, 50, son of Yakub Mia and its pillion passenger Narsing Bonarji, 35, both were residents of Fultola union of Juri upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Police Station Md Ali Mahmud said the duo was heading towards Kulaura from Juri, riding on the motorcycle. On the way, a speeding truck rammed their bike in Begmanpur area, leaving Sufiyan dead on the spot and Narsing critically injured.

The injured was being rushed to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

The truck was seized, however, its driver managed to flee the spot, the OC said.
