Biswa Ijtema-2024 begins

The first phase of the three-day Biswa Ijtema began this morning (February 2) after two years of Covid hiatus on the bank of the River Turag in Tongi.
The Biswa Ijtema (World Congregation) began with the a'mbayan (general sermons) of Pakistani Islamic scholar Maulana Ziaul Haque after Fajr prayers.
The first phase of Ijtema will end on Sunday with Akheri Munajat (final prayers).
Thousands of worshipers have taken positions on the roadside failing to get space in 91 khittas in the venue. About 300 closed circuit cameras have been installed in the whole Maidan for the security of the pilgrims.
A huge members of law enforcement agencies were deployed to maintain law and order at the Ijtema venue and adjacent areas. Besides, plainclothes police and intelligence officers were deployed in the area.
More than a thousand of devotees from– India, Pakistan, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Palestine and other countries joined the Ijtema.
Tabligh Jamaat has been organizing the congregation at the venue since 1967. In 2018, it divided Ijtema into two phases to accommodate a large number of attendees.
