10 to walk gallows in Subarnachar gang rape case

A court in Noakhali has awarded death penalty to ten people in a case filed over a gang rape of a housewife in Subarnachar Upazila of the district.

Noakhali Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Judge Fatema Ferdous passed the order on Monday (February 5).

Assistant public prosecutor (APP) Saleh Ahmed Sohel said that the court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default of which they would have to serve two more years in jail.

According to the case statement, on December 30, 2018, a mother of four was gang-raped allegedly by the convicts. Later, the victim’s husband filed the rape case with Char Jabbar police station.
