2 to die for killing auto rickshaw driver in Munshiganj

A Munshiganj court has sentenced two people to death for killing an auto rickshaw driver at Tongibari upazila in the district.
Judge Khaleda Yasmin Urmi of Munshiganj Additional District and Sessions Court-2 handed down the verdict on Wednesday (February 14).
The death row convicts are Elias Hossain, son of Syeed Sheikh, a resident of Sonarang village of the upazila and Rokibul Islam, son of Mir Hossain, a resident of Poisha village in Lauhajang upazila of the district.
According to the case statement, an auto rickshaw driver Shahabuddin Sheikh left his house with his auto rickshaw and went missing on May 24, 2020. After being failed to locate him, the victim’s father Abul Sheikh filed a general diary on the next day with Tongibari Police Station.
On May 27, Shahabuddin’s body was recovered from Kurmira village area of the upazila.
Later, police arrested four people following the murder and pressed a charge sheet against them.
After examining witnesses and evidence, the court delivered the verdict in the case today, sentencing them to death.
