5-day special train on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route for tourists

There was a tourist drought in Cox’s Bazar for about three months due to the political unrest and 12th National Parliament Election. The beach was empty of tourists at that time.
But the situation has improved this month. Now Cox’s Bazar is abuzz with tourists. During the holidays, the hotel-motel in Cox’s Bazar are passing busy schedule.
Taking the demand of tourists into consideration, railway authorities have made up a decision to operate five-day special train dedicated to the tourists on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route in February and March.
Mohammad Golam Rabbani, Station Master of Cox’s Bazar Railway Station, said these trains will run on February 20, 28, 29 and March 6 and 7. The special train will commence its journey at 11:00pm on Tuesday (February 20) and reach Cox’s Bazaar Railway Station at 8:00am on Wednesday (February 28). Later, the train will leave Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka on February 28 and March 6 consecutively.
Besides, another train on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route is scheduled for February 21, he added.
Golam Rabbani said, this special train will have 14 coaches, including 450 Shovon chairs and 220 AC chairs. The ticket price of AC Snigdha is fixed at Tk 1,325, while the Shovon Chair price is fixed at Tk 695.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway route on November 11 last year. From December 1, non-stop ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ started commercial passenger transport on this route.
Later on January 10, the second non-stop inter-city train ‘Tourist Express’ was launched. Till now both these trains were transporting passengers.
