The 28th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair-2024 ended on Tuesday (February 20).

The fair started on January 21 at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre at Purbachal on the outskirts of Dhaka.

This year, the fair has fetched export orders worth TK 391.82 crore, which is 17.25 per cent higher than last year, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). Products worth Tk 400 crore were sold at the fair.

The closing ceremony was held on Tuesday where State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu was present as the chief guest.

In his speech, the state minister said, “Our goal is to bring up one lakh artisans across the country in the next one year. We will foster at least one handicraftsman in every village by giving them necessary support and training.”

Exhibitors displayed local and foreign products, including electronics, apparel, jute and leather goods, furniture, plastic products, handcrafts and various food items, in their stalls on the fair premises.

Along with local businesses, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Turkish and Iranian businesses displayed carpets, jewellery, hand- and machine-made designer bed-sheets, carpets, footwear and other items.
