Tongi multi-storey building fire under control, 6 burnt

A fire that broke out at a multi-storey building in Gazipur’s Tongi early Wednesday (February 28), has been brought under control.
The fire originated at Marium Mansion at 5:30am. Being informed, locals first tried to extinguish the blaze but they failed and later informed the fire service, according to Fire Service and local sources.
On information, six firefighting units rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire around 7:10am, said Abu Sajedul Kabir Joarder, a senior official of Tongi Fire Service.
Six persons were injured when they were trying to douse the fire and they are Likhon, 25; Rumon, 28; Sagor, 32; Rakib, 28; Monirul, 25, and Abdur Razzak, 32.
The injured were later taken to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Tongi.
Several warehouses on the third and fourth floors of the building were also burnt in the fire.
Reason behind the fire and extent of damages could not be known immediately.
