Gold worth Tk 4cr seized on Jhenaidah border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in Moheshpur frontier in Jhenaidah  seized five gold bars from Matila Banshbagan area about 250 yard inside the Bangladesh territory from bordering pillar number 51 on Saturday noon. 

The weight of the seized five gold bars is 5kg and the primarily estimated price is over Tk 4.35 crore. 

BGB 58 Battalion Director HM Salauddin Chowdhury, in a press release, said, acting on a tip off, a group of BGB personnel, challenged a group of smugglers and seized the gold. But they could not arrest any person.

Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the smugglers hastily abandoned a packet and fled across the border into Indian Territory.
