Teacher sued as student shot in classroom

A case was filed against the teacher who reportedly shot at a student during a class at Shaheed M. Monsur Ali Medical College in Sirajganj.
Confirming the matter, Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Sirajul Islam said the recovered pistol from him is illegal.
Another case will be filed against him under Arms Act for possessing an illegal weapon, OC added.
Earlier on Monday night (March 4), Abdullah Al Amin, father of the victim filed a case in this regard.
According to the case statement, being informed that Arafat Amin Tomal, 22, a third-year student at the medical college, was hospitalized, Tomal's father rushed to Sirajganj and found his son in critical condition at the surgical department of the medical college hospital.
The classmates of the victim said the teacher Dr. Raihan Sharif used to bring a pistol to class every day. Teachers and students had an altercation over a trivial issue around 3pm. At one stage, the teacher could not control his anger and opened fire, leaving the student bullet injured. Later, the friends of the Tomal informed police dialing emergency service 999.
Health Ministry formed a three-member probe committee in this regard, said police.
