A lane of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in the Gazipur- Chanada Chowrasta route has been opened for vehicles to ease traffic congestion.
BRT project authority said a lane of the under-construction project is opened to ease traffic congestion. From now on, public transports from Dhaka to Mymensingh and Joydebpur in Gazipur will be able to use the area's flyover at Chandana Chowrasta. However, Dhaka-bound vehicles will have to move under the flyover.
Gazipur metropolitan police DC (traffic) Alamgir Hossain said that Mymensingh and Joydebpur city-bound lanes have been opened this morning. Hopefully the problem of transportation that was created temporarily, will not be there anymore. Another lane from Joydebpur has been completed already. That will be opened soon.
It is mentionable that the BRT project was approved in December, 2012 with a target of completion by 2016. However, BRT could not start the construction of the project in time.
The duration of the project has been fixed till December this year by revising the project thrice.
