2kg crystal meth seized in Teknaf, 3 held

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 2.127kgs of crystal methamphetamine (crystal meth or Ice) during a raid in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (March 5).

Three smugglers were also detained in this connection.

The detainees are Samsul Alam, 40, son of late Nagu Mia; Syed Alam, 24, son of late Hamid Hossain and Aktar Kamal, 20, son of Nur Kamal.

The force conducted a raid in Mundardail ghat, along the borders with Myanmar this morning and made the seizure.

Lt Col Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, captain of BGB Teknaf-2 Battalion, confirmed the matter to the media.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB reached the scene and identified three people with a plastic bag in the ghat area. Sensing the presence of the BGB team, the smugglers tried to flee the scene with a boat but were detained by the team.

Searching the boat, the team found 2.127kgs of crystal meth inside the bag.

The boat was also seized in this connection.

The BGB official said taking legal action in this regard is under process.
