M’singh, Cumilla city by-elections underway

Voting in the by-elections to Cumilla and Mymensingh City Corporations for the mayoral post is underway.

The voting in the two city corporations began at 8am on Saturday (March 9) and will continue till 4pm without any break.

Alongside two city corporations, 231 elections and by-elections are also being held today in at different stages (municipality and union parishad) of the local government across the country.

Polling is being held at Municipality, Zilla Parishad and City Corporations through electronic voting machines (EVMs) while the rest elections are being held through ballot papers, said Md Shariful Alam, secretariat director (public relations) of the Election Commission (EC).
