Gas found in well no 3 of Shahjadpur-Sundalpur in Noakhali

Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) has found gas in well number 3 of Shahjadpur-Sundalpur gas field in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali.

Prince Md Al Helal, project director at BAPEX, said: “Now the work of drill stem test (DST) is going on. The DST started at the lowest level of the well on Saturday (March 9). After this, it will be known how much gas is stored here.”

The DST started from Saturday following the completion of digging activities. A total of 3,385 meters of the well has been dug, he added.

Asaduzzaman, drilling in-charge at well no. 3 of Shahjadpur-Sundalpur gas field, said, “We can hope that we could add over 10 million cubic feet of gas to the national grid every day from here.”
