Former extremist group member shot dead in Pabna

A former member of the banned extremist organization Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party was shot dead by miscreants at Sadar upazila in Pabna on Sunday (March 17).

The deceased was known as Abdur Razzak Sheikh, 38, son of late Azizul Sheikh, hailed from Harinayanpur village of Gayeshpur union.

Witnesses said Abdur Razzak went to Maniknagar Bazar to have some tea around 11:00pm. Meanwhile, 5/6 masked man rushed to the spot riding two motorcycle and opened fire aiming him. Later, he was taken to Pabna General Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Locals said that Abdur Razzak was a member of the banned extremist organization. He surrendered in 2019 and started a normal life.

Pabna additional police super Masud Alam said additional police forces were deployed in the area. Investigation is underway in this regard.
