BCL leader hacked to death, two put on remand

A Chhatra League leader was hacked to death by his rivals over a Facebook status in Nagarpur upazila of Tangail on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Jahid Hasan Khan Jhalok, son of Rafiqul Islam at Salimabad Modhdhopara village in the upazila. He was the organizing secretary of Nagarpur Upazila Chhatra League. Jahid was a 3rd year student at Government Maulana Mohammad Ali College.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm when Jahid was returning home from village mosque offering Tarweeh prayers.

Police arrested three people in connection with the murder, said Officer-in-Charge of Nagarpur Thana Hasan Jahid.

The arrestees are Rana, Jihad and Emon. Rana and Jihad, who are siblings, were arrested in Manikganj while Emon was nabbed from the village.

Jihad and Emon have put on two days remand in the murder case.
