Somali pirates have communicated with the owners of a Bangladeshi-flagged ship named MV Abdullah hijacked by the pirates in the Indian Ocean near Somalia.
The communication was made eight days after the ship was hijacked.
The pirates established a contact with the owners of the vessel on Wednesday (March 20) noon, confirmed Mizanul Islam, media advisor of KSRM Group.
Mizanul Islam said, “The pirates did not claim any ransom money although they contacted us.”
However, all the sailors held hostage by Somalian pirates are now in good health, he confirmed.
“We are trying to do everything necessary to take the hostages back to the country,” he said.
The ship was owned by SR Shipping Limited, a concern of KSRM Group.
On March 12, Somali pirates hijacked a Bangladesh-flagged cargo ship named MV Abdullah with 23 crew members in the Indian ocean. Later, the crew members of MV Abdullah were held hostage.
The ship was sailing from Maputo in Mozambique to Al Hamriyah in the UAE with 58,000 tonnes of coal.
