State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu has said that commodity exchange will help to boost country and stock markets.
The state minister said this at a commodity exchange (CX) certificate handing ceremony on Wednesday.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Wednesday got the license of the country's maiden commodity exchange from the securities regulator nearly four months after the publishing of rules.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved the commodity exchange (CX) rules last year and a gazette notification was issued on it.
The BSEC officially handed the certificate over to the CSE to initiate commodity exchange. State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam handed over the certificate to CSE Chairman Asif Ibrahim.
BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam was present as the chief guest while Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL) Chairman Sheikh Kabir Hossain was the special guest on the occasion.
