Owners not in favour of military operation to rescue hostage ship

The owners of MV Abdullah, owned by Chattogram shipping company SR Shipping, which was held hostage by Somalian pirates, want the ship and its sailors to be brought back safe and sound.

For this purpose, they are making efforts to negotiate with the pirates through third party.

The owners of the vessel, however, have expressed concern over the activities of warships of various countries surrounding the ship held hostage. They said they are not in favour of any military operation and ensuring security for the sailors held hostage is their top priority.

Mizanul Islam, media consultant of KSRM Group, said, “We are not in favour of any military operation to rescue the ship held hostage and its sailors. We would like to bring them back safe and sound through negotiation. For this purpose, we are making efforts to negotiate with the pirates through third party. Pirates are yet to demand any ransom.”

MV Abdullah is owned by SR Shipping Lines – a sister company of Chattogram-based Kabir Steel and Rerolling Mill (KSRM) Group.
