Abducted Noor released after paying ransom of Tk 5 lakh

Of the five farmers abducted in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf, four were released after the payment of Tk1.2 lakh in ransom yesterday. Today, the abductors released another abductee named Mohammad Noor, a farmer by profession, in exchange of a ransom of Tk five lakh.

The victim’s family confirmed that the abductors released Noor, son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Hnila union parishad in the upazila, at Baharchhara in Teknaf on Sunday (March 24) night.

Noor’s sister said the abductors held hostage her brother with hope to get a huge amount of ransom. Later, they released her brother after the payment of Tk five lakh as ransom.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Osman Gani said, “We received the news of releasing abducted farmer Mohammad Noor. With him, all the five farmers have been rescued.”

The farmers who were released yesterday are Rafiq, 22; Jihan, 13; Shaon, 15 and Abdur Rahman, 15. They are the residents of Hnila union parishad in the upazila.

On March 21, abductors kidnapped five farmers from Pankhali area of Teknaf and demanded Tk30 lakh ransom for their release.
