Nat’l Memorial ready for Independence Day

The Savar National Martyrs’ Memorial is all set for observation of the Independence Day of Bangladesh on March 26.
The nation will pay homage to the national heroes on the Independence Day on Tuesday.
The National Martyrs' Memorial has been cleaned and decorated ahead of Independence Day celebration.
The bricks from the entrance to the main memorial ground have been coloured in red and white. Flower pots have been placed along both sides of the walk way.
Trees in the memorial area have been trimmed and smartly groomed. Following the decoration, the whole memorial compound is ready now.
The day's programmes will begin with gun salutes early in the morning as a mark of profound respect to the heroic struggle of this nation, which suffered a protracted subjugation under foreign rules from time to time until achieving their coveted independence in 1971.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will place wreaths there early in the morning as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs.
People from all walks of life, including families of Bir Shreshthas, war-wounded freedom fighters, members of the diplomatic corps, leaders of different political parties, social, cultural and professional bodies, will also lay wreaths at the national memorial in the morning.
