Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing along Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi man was killed and another was injured in firing by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Burirhat border in Lalmonirhat’s Kaliganj upazila early Saturday (March 30).
The deceased was identified as Murali Barman Roy, son of Shusheel Chandra of North Balapara area under Chandrapur union of the upazila.
According to local sources, BSF members opened fire on 4 to 5 Bangladeshi nationals when they entered Indian territory through pillar no 913 along the Burirhat border, leaving Murali dead and another injured.
Imtiaz Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station, confirmed the matter and said, “We took the body to the police station. Legal action will be taken after investigation.”
Lt. Colonel Mofazzal Hossain Akand, commander of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, confirmed the matter.
