Two killed, 7 burnt as lorry overturns in Savar

Two people were killed and seven others sustained burn injuries after an oil-laden lorry turned turtle on the road in Savar`s Hemayetpur early Tuesday (April 2).

The deceased were known as Nazrul Islam, 45, and Iqbal, hailed from Chaugachha upazila of Jashore.

The incident took place in Jorpul area of Hemayetpur around 6:00am. On information three fire units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

Local sources said the lorry carrying oil overturned and caught fire on Dhaka-Aricha highway. Meanwhile, four trucks and private were burnt due to the fire from the lorry.

The injured eight people were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka where anothed died under treatment.

Savar Highway Police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Babul confirmed the matter.
