3 get death for killing couple in Chuadanga

A Chuadanga court sentenced three people to death for killing an elderly couple at Alamdanga upazila in the district in September 2022.
The court also fined them Tk20,000 each.
Apart from this, the court sentenced another accused to two years’ imprisonment in the case.
Judge Masud Ali of the Chuadanga Additional District and Session Judge Court-2 handed down the verdict in the presence of the convicts around 11:30 am on Tuesday (April 2).
The death row convicts were Sahabul Haque, 26, son of Bojlur Rahman; Rajib Hossain, 27, son of Pintu Rahman and Bidyut Ali, 25, son of Masud Ali. They are the residents of Asannagar village of the upazila.
Shakil Hossain, 25, who was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, hailed from Asannagar village of the upazila.
According to the case statement, on September 24, 2022, the bodies of Nazir Mia, 70, and his wife Farida Begum, 60, were recovered from their house in Purono Bazar Para area of Alamdanga town.
On the next day, Daliara Parvin Shila, the daughter of the couple, filed a murder case accusing unknown persons as the plaintiff in this regard. Four days later, the police arrested the four accused on suspicion of murder.
Later, the accused confessed to the murder and gave a statement under section 164 in the court.
