Armed robbers attack 2 more banks in Bandarban

Sixteen hours after a Sonali Bank branch was robbed in Bandarban’s Ruma Upazila, armed robbers have attacked two more banks in Thanchi Upazila.

The incident took place around 12:00pm on Wednesday (April 3).

Meanwhile, the robbers corralled everyone in the banks and locked them into a room. Later, they fled the scene after taking money from the bank. However, the amount of looted money could not be ascertained immediately.

Locals said 20-25 attackers entered Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank and looted money from the banks.

Omar Faruk, cashier of Sonali Bank’s Thanchi branch, said 12-15 robbers have looted all the money from the bank including the customer's money.

Confirming the matter, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Director General of police said details can be said later.

Earlier, robbers attacked the Sonali Bank branch in Ruma Upazila’s Sadar area and looted money and 14 fire arms around 9pm on Tuesday.
