Home boss announces joint crackdown raid in Bandarban

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has announced joint crackdown operation against criminals in Bandarban.

Stern action would be taken against those involved in Bandarban bank robberies and looting firearms of police and Ansar, he said.

The minister said these while talking to reporters on the Ruma upazila complex after inspecting Sonali Bank branch there on Saturday (April 6).

“A crackdown would be launched against the criminals in the district from Saturday. If there is any negligence of Detective Branch of police to provide information prior to the incident, action will also be taken against them,” Kamal said.

On April 2 night, armed criminals stormed Bandarban’s Ruma upazila parishad complex, disarmed security personnel and took their firearms, robbed the Sonali Bank branch and abducted the bank manager.

Later, the RAB rescued the abducted Sonali Bank Manager Nezam Uddin in Ruma town on April 4.
