Woman killed in Rajbari stampede while receiving zakat

An elderly woman was killed during a stampede in Bhobanipur area in Rajbari district on Sunday morning while receiving zakat money.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Local sources said thousands of people gathered at the house of Md Delwar Hossain, a prominent businessman in the Bhobanipur area this morning. Meanwhile, the victim fell on the ground amid huge crowd. Later, she was taken to Rajbari Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared her dead.

Rajbari sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Iftekharul Alam Pradhan confirmed the matter.
