Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) in joint operation arrested Kuki-Chin National Front’s (KNF) chief coordinator Cheosim Bom.
The 55-year-old was arrested from his house in Sharonpara neighbourhood under the Suwalok Union of the sadar upazila on Sunday (April 7).
Lt Col HM Sajjad Hossain, commander of RAB-15 in Cox’s Bazar, disclosed the information at a press conference held at Bandarban district council auditorium at 3:30 pm.
Two air guns were also recovered from his house during the raid.
He was hiding in the almirah when a special RAB team raided the place, the elite police unit said.
RAB said the KNF was formed in Bandarban by Cheosim, 55, and Royal Lin Bom, 55—both related to the militant group’s chief Nathan Bom. KNF signed an agreement with militant group Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya at Cheosim’s residence to train them.
KNF militants attacked several bank branches in Ruma and Thanchi upazilas on April 2 and 3 respectively. They looted money and firearms and abducted Sonali Bank Manager Nezam Uddin. RAB later rescued the manager on April 4.
