One of the largest Eid congregations in the country took place at the historic Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah Maidan in Dinajpur.
The Eid jamaat commenced at 9am on Thursday (April 11). Maulana Shamsul Islam Qasemi led the Eid congregation.
Devotees from Dinajpur and various parts of the country expressed their happiness after offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers peacefully in the largest congregation in the country.
Worshippers entered the ground through 19 gates, undergoing security checks with metal detectors. A watchtower had been set up inside the Eidgah ground for ensuring the safety of the attendees.
Devotees were only allowed to bring prayer mats and umbrellas to the gathering.
The 22-acre Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah Maidan, featuring a 516-foot-wide minaret with 52 domes, employed a four-tier security system involving the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar and volunteers.
Prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
The historic Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah Maidan has been holding Eid prayers in greater context since 2017, although the Eid congregation has been continuing since 1947.
