Abducted Delwar elected Singra upazila chairman uncontested

Delwar Hossain Pasha, who was abducted and tortured by the rival candidate, has been declared chairman of Natore Upazila Parishad uncontested. 

District election officer and returning officer Abdul Latif Sheikh announced this in a statement on Tuesday (April 23).

Earlier, two candidates submitted nomination papers for the post of chairman in Singra Upazila Parishad election. 

After scrutiny, the returning officer announced the nomination papers of two candidates -- Lutful Habib Rubel and Delwar Hossain -- valid. 

However, Rubel withdrew his candidature on Sunday. In sequel to it, Delwar Hossain was unofficially elected chairman on Tuesday.
