Train derailment snaps Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar rail link

Train communication between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar remained suspended for a couple of hours on Wednesday morning following the derailment of a bogie Chattala Express in Chakaria upazila.

The incident took place around 9:40am on Wednesday (April 24).

Cox’s Bazar iconic rail station master Golam Rabbani said the special train Chattla Express left Chittagong at around 7 am. The train was supposed to reach Cox's Bazar around 11:30 am. But, before that, the train derailed at Dulahazara section around 9:40 am. The reason behind the accident could not be known immediately.

Quoting locals, Dulahazra union parishad chairman Hasanul Islam Adar said the accident occurred as miscreants removed the stones of the rail line and stole the nuts and bolts.
