2 students drown in Mohananda river in C’nawabganj

Two school kids drowned in the Mohanandna River at Shibaganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Monday (April 29).

The deceased were known as Maria, 9, daughter of Md. Alamgir, Shakil, 8, son of Rasel Ali. The two children were students of Bamungram government primary school.

Police and local sources said that Shakil and Maria were returning home from school around 11:00am. At one stage, the two kids slipped into the river accidentally and went missing.

After being informed, locals rushed there and recovered their bodies after few hours of attempts.

Shibganj police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Sukomol Chandra Debnath confirmed the matter.
