Mother, son killed in Khagrachhari lightning strike

A woman and her son were killed in a lightning strike in Madhyabetchhari village of Merung union under Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari on Sunday (May 5).

The deceased were known as Hasina Begum, 30, and her son Hanif, 8.

Merung union parishad chairman Mahmuda Begum Lucky said the tin-shed houses of the victims also got burned due to the lightning strike.

Dighinala police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nurul Haque said the bodies will be handed over to the family members after completing legal procedure.
