Presiding officer among 4 held while distributing money

Police arrested four persons, including a presiding officer, from Sullah upazila in Sunamganj early Wednesday while distributing money on behalf of chairman candidate Aboni Mohan Das.

The incident took place some hours before the first phase of upazila parishad election.

Police caught assistant presiding officer Apu Ranjan Das and three others red-handed Tuesday night while distributing money among voters, said Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shalla Police Station.

Identities of the detained three others could not be known.

Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, the district election officer and returning officer, confirmed the news.
