Joint drives underway to rescue crashed aircraft

Different forces are conducting operations jointly to rescue the YAK130 trainer fighter jet of Bangladesh Air Force that crashed on the Karnaphuli river at Patenga in Chattogram due to mechanical failure.
Members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Chittagong Port Authority are participating in the rescue operations.
According to sources, the aircraft was seen flying over the Patenga Navy Boat Club and then suddenly it caught on fire and crashed into the Karnaphuli river.
Wing Commander Soham and Pilot Ashim, two pilots of the aircraft, were ejected with parachutes. Of them, Ashim’s condition was critical.
