KNF leader arrested in Bandarban

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested a leader of ethnic armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) from Bandarban in a case filed over bank robbery.

The arrestee is known as Sanju Khum Bawm, 38, son of Mun Hey Bawm, hailed from Sualok union of Bandarban sadar upazila.

In a press notification, RAB confirmed the matter on Friday (May 10).

According to RAB, acting on a tip-off, a 15-member team of RAB conducted drive in Farukpara area on Wednesday and arrested him.

In preliminary interrogation, Sanju Khum Bawm said that he is one of the members of KNF and president of Bandarban Sadar Farooq Para KNF.

It is mentionable that KNF carried out attacks on three banks and police installations, looted over Tk 15 lakh, and snatched away 14 firearms and over 400 bullets from the police and Ansar battalion between April 2 and 3.
