9 to walk gallows for killing Juba League leader in Cumilla

A Cumilla court has sentenced nine people to death and nine to life imprisonment for murdering Jubo League leader Jamal in Cumilla's Chauddagram in 2016.
Judge of Cumilla Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-4 Md. Jahangir Hossain passed the order on Sunday noon (May 12).
The court fined them Taka 50,000 each. The court also acquitted five others as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
Public prosecutor Jahirul Haque Salim confirmed the matter.
The death row convicts are – Md Ismail Hossain Bacchu, Salauddin, Abdur Rahman, Mafizur Rahman Khandakar, Ziauddin Shimul, Jahid Bin Shuvo, Rezaul Karim Bablu, Md Riaz Uddin Miazi, Mamata Amir Hossain.
According to the case statement, former chairman of Alkora union parishad Ismail Hossain Bacchu and Jubo League leader Jamal had been at loggerheads. Jamal Uddin was attacked following the enmity. He also filed a case. Centering the rivalry, Ismail Hossain Bacchu planned to kill Jamal Uddin. The accused attacked the victim and killed him on January 8, 2016.
