Rohingya leader shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A head majhi (community leader) of a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, has been shot dead allegedly over establishing supremacy.
The deceased was known as Mohammad Ilias, 43, son of Abul Kashem, hailed from Rohingya camp’s Block-C3 in Ukhiya Extension-4.
Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shamim Hossain said that some 10-15 unidentified masked assailants broke into the house where Mohammad Ilias was sleeping this morning and took him behind the nearby Handicap International office. The miscreants then fired several shots at him and killed him on the spot.
Initially, it is believed that the members of the terrorist organization Arsa have committed this murder centering their dominance in the Rohingya camp, the OC added.
