Man to die for killing wife in Cumilla

A Cumilla court sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in Nangalkot upazila in the district.

Cumilla Additional District and Sessions Judge III Court Judge Rozina Khan handed down the verdict on Thursday (May 23) noon.

The death row convict is Mozammel Hossain Raju, 25, son of Nurunnabi Prokash Nur Alam. He was a resident of Shatishak village under Chauddagram upazila.

The court Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Aminul Islam confirmed the matter.

According to the case document, the victim Khaleda Akter got married to convict Mozammel Hossain Raju in 2013. They have a daughter. As Mozammel Hossain Raju was unemployed, Khaleda used to live at her father’s house with her daughter.

On November 2, 2018, Mozammel Hossain Raju went to visit his father-in-law’s house. He strangled Khaleda to death during an argument the following day.

Later, the victim’s father filed a murder case in this regard.
