Two daughters drown in Sylhet

Two children drowned in a pond in Zakiganj upazila of Sylhet on Wednesday (May 29).

The incident took place in the morning at Gechhua village under Sultanapur union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Eva, 7, daughter of Gous Uddin, and Shuva, 8, daughter of Ikram Uddin, residents of that village. They were cousins.

Locals said the two children went missing while they were taking a bath in a pond next to their house.

Later, local people recovered their bodies from the water of the pond.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zakiganj Police Station Sukanta Chowdhury confirmed the news.
