Attempt to snatch ballot boxes, 5 hurt in police firing

Activists of the defeated chairman candidate Shawkat Reza Chowdhury Arman tried to snatch the ballot boxes after end of voting in the Noakhali Sadar Upazila Parishad election. 

At that time, on the orders of the presiding officer, police member shot and charged batons on them, and one stage they fled the spot. However, there is an allegation that 5 people were hurt in police firing. The injured are supporters of the winning chairman candidate AKM Shamshuddin Jehan.

The incident took place at Uttar Shullukia Government Primary School center of Kaladrap Union of the upazila on Wednesday (May 29) night. The injured were rescued and admitted to Noakhali General Hospital.

Presiding Officer filed a case in this connection.
