UP chairman succumbs to bullet wounds in Rangamati

A Union Parishad chairman succumbed to his injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital last night a week after he was shot in Belaichhari Upazila of Rangamati.
The deceased was known as Atumong Marma, 51, chairman of No. 4 Barathli union in Belaichhari upazila of Rangamati.
Belaichhari upazila parishad chairman Birottom Tanchanga confirmed the matter.
Earlier on May 22, miscreants opened fire aiming him when he was taking preparation for dinner at a house.
Locals rescued him and took him to Ruma Upazila Health Complex in Bandarban at 6am on Wednesday, where he received first aid for gunshot wounds to his hand and leg. Later, he was taken to Chattogram Medical College where he died under treatment.
