100 animals found dead in Sundarbans

Following Cyclone Remal's rampage, 100 animal carcasses, including deer, have been recovered in the Sundarbans.
Forest department recovered 100 bodies of deer, python and wild boars from different places in Sundarbans till Thursday (May 30).
The concerned officials said that the water level of the rivers and streams increased by four to five feet and flooded the Sundarbans due to the cyclone Remal. As a result, these wild animals died drinking salt water. The exact number of dead animals can be known later.
Confirming the matter, Mihir Kumar Doe, conservator of the forest of Khulna region, said the dead animals were buried in Katka sanctuary.
Besides, 18 deer and a python were rescued alive and released into the forest, he added.
