Sister, brother drown in Sunamganj haor

Two siblings drowned in a waterbody in Jagannathpur village in Sunamganj sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon (June 2).

The deceased were known as Arif Ahmed, 4, Walima, 5. They were children of Abdul Mannan, hailed from the village.

Local sources said that the two children were playing at the yard of their house around 5:30pm. At one stage, the duo fell into the haor adjacent to their house and remained missing. Later, locals recovered them and took to local hospital where duty doctor declared them dead.

Sunamganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaled Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
