Floods in Sylhet: SCC cancels holidays for staff

The Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has cancelled all holidays of its officials and employees in the concerned departments until further notice to expedite their efforts in a bid to tackle the flood situation.

SCC Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury announced this during his visit to flood-hit areas on Tuesday.

On Tuesday noon, he visited the sheltering centres of wards-26, 28 and 29 of the city.

Due to heavy rainfall and hill slopes, water level of all rivers in Sylhet is flowing above the danger level.

As a result, low-lying areas of Sylhet city have already been flooded.
