War crime accused Ruhul arrested after 8 years

Md Ruhul Quddus Khan, a fugitive accused in a war crime case, has been arrested after 8 years of an arrest warrant.

A team of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) arrested him in a raid carried out in Jhumjhumpur area under Jashore Sadar Police Station at around 5:30pm Wednesday.

The arrestee, Ruhul Quddus Khan alias Quddus Khan alias Golam Quddus, is a resident of Peruly village under Narail Sadar Thana. He is the son of late MV Assaduzzaman Khan.

A case was filed against Quddus in 2016 for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the country’s War of Liberation in 1971.

Based on facts and evidence, the International Crimes Tribunal found Quddus guilty and issued an arrest warrant. Since then, the accused was in hiding.
